  On the promotion angling for children

The European Anglers Alliance, representing 18 European nations and over 6 million anglers, held its 7th General Assembly on the 31 March and 1 April 2001 in Paris (France). One of the main subjects has been the discussion of problems concerning the prohibition of angling for children under 16 years of age in Germany.

The European Anglers Alliance states that angling is important for people of all ages, especially for children.

Angling means for children:

bulleta good sport, great enjoyment and important part of outdoor recreation and leisure activity;
bulleta good matter to make them discover the nature and take part in the aquatic environment protection;
bulleta good way to social peace because of angling connects all nations and social classes;
bulleta good step away from streets, drugs and violence.

The European Anglers Alliance calls on all member nations, the national governments and the European Union to stimulate and fund programmes which promote angling for children of all ages and support angling.
