MEP Norica Nicolai, President of the European Parliament Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment, will draft a report on recreational fisheries.

From September on, the European Parliament Committee on Fisheries will work on a report entitled “State of play of recreational fisheries in the EU”. The report has been allocated to the ALDE Group (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) and will be drafted by MEP Norica Nicolai, President of the RecFishing Forum

EAA and EFTTA are very pleased with this news and are ready to collaborate with the rapporteur to realise a fair and balanced report that acknowledges the importance of recreational fishing in the EU – most notably recreational angling - to people, the environment and economy. We hope the report also stresses the need for inclusion of the recreational sector in the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) on an equal footing with the other stakeholders, commercial fishers, fish farmers and processors.
