The Angling Trust is the main anglers’ association in England and Wales with 17.000 individual members and 1.800 clubs and associations representing 340.000 anglers. The Angling Trust works to develop angling in England and Wales through educational, coaching and competition activities, offering many possibilities for children and families to go angling. It also manages several environmental campaigns to fight against pollution of waters, overfishing, habitat degradation, invasive species, etc.

The Angling Trust collaborates very closely with Fish Legal, a membership association using the law to protect fish stocks and the rights of its members throughout the UK. The Angling Trust also engages in campaigns such as #WeAreUndefeatable – a campaign supporting those in England who live with long-term health conditions.

Many of the Angling Trust's activities are carried out by or with the help of thousands of members and volunteers. Angling engages over 2 million people in Britain, making it one of the most popular outdoor pastimes. It also delivers significant economic and social benefits with around 35,000 jobs and an estimated contribution to the UK economy in excess of £3 billion a year. Anglers invest millions of hours of volunteer time into the maintenance and improvement of water environments by clearing litter, restoring habitats and monitoring pollution.
